We are comprised of students from all three high schools in the Nampa School District and Liberty Charter School. Our mission is to motivate students to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields and to become exemplary in their future endeavors. Our goal is to embody FIRST's vision, “to transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated, and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders.”
We learn skills such as: leadership, problem solving, teamwork, responsibility, business relations, public relations, and engineering methods. We focus on a “learn by doing” motto; we lead the team, guided by mentors from industry.
We are active in the community and continue to give back to our sponsors. We have given presentations of past robots for sponsors and at community events. Over the years we have participated in local events such as Rake up Nampa, 21st Century STEM carnival, Micron Chip Camp, and mentored a FLL team at East Valley Middle School. We have also hosted and volunteered at multiple science summer camps.
The NASKCOrpions robotics team has participated as a FIRST Robotics Competition team since 2008. For the first two years of the teams existence we went to the Portland Regional. In 2010 we attended the inaugural Utah Regional held at the University of Utah, which was later moved to the Maverik Center in West Valley City. In 2016 the Idaho Regional was established thus making it possible for our team to compete in two regionals. In 2019 our team competed at the Canadian Pacific Regional in Victoria BC, Canada along with the Idaho Regional.
